Hey all! You know what I read? Someone posted somewhere...I think maybe Facebook, we have less than 100 days until Christmas...ummm
Right now, I just can't...God love you all who love Christmas like that and can count the days "until", but if there is one thing 2020 has taught me and I'm sure others, it's SLOW DOWN and enjoy the moment. I seriously love that I can say this year HAS NOT FLOWN BY. On the same note, with everything that has happened in such a short amount of time, I wish it was all over. So many lessons have been learned, though.
So, if you've been following along, you now know my little Etsy store FrenchCountryInKy is open for business! And because you all have been such great friends, I want to let you know I GOT MY FIRST SALE THE OTHER DAY!🤗🤜🏼🤛🏼💪🏼😂 Thank you sweet Jesus🙏🏼 'cause I was getting a little bit worried🤭 And, just so you know, it was a REAL and legit sale! Not a family member feeling sorry for me sale lol. When I got online and saw there was an order I swear to you, so many things went through my head! I immediately panicked🤦🏻♀️ Then I wanted to scream and dance, but due to the fact that dancing is not my forte and I didn't want the dogs to bark and panic by my dancing and screaming, I resolved to "calmly" calling Bill and my daughters. Of course, Bill immediately assumed he could retire and both daughters laughed. We are a dysfunctional family to say the least...
Anyway, I want to thank all of you who visited the Etsy store and ❤️ favorited it!😘 So much love!!! And for those who haven't visited, here are a couple pics of what I'm selling.
Handmade 100% cotton reusable tea bags. They come in 2 sizes-individual and teapot size. They are perfect for bridal/wedding showers, tea parties, birthday and CHRISTMAS gifts (less than 100 days away!) or for your family and yourself! They hold the perfect amount of loose tea and very easy to clean. The fabric was chosen by me because I wanted to keep with my own style. If I won't use it, I won't sell it. They're seriously super cute and it's hard to pick just one!
And the other handmade items I'm selling are these beeswax wraps!
Are you familiar with beeswax wraps? They're pretty awesome. They can replace all your plastic wrap and sandwich bags. They are 100% cotton, 100% organic beeswax, and 100% organic jojoba oil. By wrapping your food in them, you create a waterproof barrier, keeping the contents completely dry yet maintaining moisture inside, helping foods last longer. They are completely reusable, just wipe them down with a little dish soap and water, but the key is to avoid HOT anything (water, microwave, dishwasher, stove, etc) as it will break down the wax. One thing that makes mine stand out is I don't put any pine resin on them. Pine resin is used to give that "sticky" factor and help the wraps "cling". I have found two things I didn't like about pine resin: the smell (that was a big thing for me), and although it's sticky, it doesn't always "cling". I prefer to use a string to tie something closed or a rubber band. Way more secure. You can even use these in the freezer to store something up to three months. Because you can't "sanitize" these with hot water, it's not recommended to use beeswax wraps on meat/seafood. They are perfect for wrapping lunch sandwiches, creating little snack bags, wrapping leftover bowls, bread, and even using as wrapping paper for gifts like homemade bread or cookies AT CHRISTMAS (less than 100 days away...) Two gifts in one! AND THEY ARE 100% COMPOSTABLE! They last about 12 months and when you're finished, just toss them in the compost bin! Same with the tea bags! Lots of designs to choose from as well!
Right now, my Etsy store only ships domestic so all my international friends wanting to order, please please send me an email. I can work something out!
All packaged up and ready to be sent! I think I was more excited shipping it then anything❤️
So, I have some other news as well! I'm not sure why I didn't do this sooner, but over the course of 12-15 months, whenever I post pictures, I've had some of you reach out and ask where I purchased "so and so" from or if I made something, etc. Nine times out of ten, it was bought on Amazon. So, another Instagram friend reached out to me and told me to look into becoming an Amazon affiliate. I went ahead and did some homework at her suggestion and decided to go ahead and sign up for the program. What does that mean to you and what does that mean to me? Well, for you, it means you click on the link I provide for something I purchased at Amazon and it will take you directly to the exact thing I bought. There is no price adjustment whatsoever. You'll pay what I did (unless Amazon changed the price since my purchase). For me, I get a small kickback for referring and recommending it to you. By small, I mean...small, like super small👌🏼 But hey, everything helps the way I spend on amazon lol.
This wallpaper is my favorite. I have it in our half bath and in our entry from the garage. I literally could put it everywhere since I love stone, but Bill hasn't made it on board with that idea! I seriously love how it goes great with everything! It gives that cottage/farmhouse look I love!
And yes, that's an antique ironing board in our bathroom lol and yes, Bill asked, "Is that an ironing board in the bathroom?" when he came home from work a couple Fridays ago. It was $10 at a garage/moving sale. This lady had the greatest stuff! I got a tub of dirty gourds (something like 10 huge gourds and a couple small ones) for $8. Of course in the back of my mind I'm thinking, "you have no idea how to clean these", but I was also thinking, "I'm sure there's a Youtube or Pinterest video you can watch 3 seconds of and dub yourself a master in no time".
Oh and I also got this cute little bird nest with tiny eggs and this 5 hole sugar mold from her as well. SCORE!
So, as soon as I got home I went straight to the sink and scrubbed the heck out of all these gourds. It took time, but that little Pampered Chef scraper thing worked amazingly and no video needed! I let them dry overnight and got to thinking... when it comes to autumn decor, I LOVE natural elements. I love nature's colors as well; the browns, deep oranges and reds, deep purple and golds. The gourds were anything but that after washing. So, I decided to add to their patina and try staining them. So the next morning, downstairs to the basement I went and stained all of them! It was super quick and I let them dry outside for the day. By the end of the weekend, they were ready to be displayed. And look, all these decor pieces that will basically last forever, all for 8 bucks!
Look at all their shapes! There's one in the first picture that is so tall it looks like a loaf of french bread and can you see the snake looking one? So fun!!
And here we are all ready for autumn! Keeping it simple this year because 2020=simple!
Hope everyone enjoys welcoming the autumn vibes! This year my goal is to enjoy autumn outside and let mother nature do her thing🧡🍁🍂🧡 I think tonight we'll start with our first bonfire🧡 Enjoy your weekend everyone!
